사람을 나무에 비유한다면, 청소년은 묘목 쯤 아닐까 생각한다. 겉모습은 나무처럼 보이지만 여기저기 받쳐도 줘야하고, 양분도 보충해줘야 속이 꽉찬 성목으로 자랄 수 있다. 청소년을 위한 공간도 그런 것 같다. 자유로워 보이지만 보이지 않는 선은 필요하고, 통제가 필요하지만 새로운 가지가 자라 날 수 있는 작은 틈은 남겨놓아야 한다.

If we compare people to trees, then adolescents might be likened to saplings. They may look like trees on the outside, but they need support here and there, and nutrients must be replenished for them to grow into mature trees with a solid core. Spaces for teenagers seem similar. They should appear free, yet invisible boundaries are necessary, and while control is needed, small gaps must be left for new branches to grow.

 노원구 청소년상담복지센터는 공동주택이 주를 이루는 밀도 높은 도심지에 자리잡았다. 작은 땅에 다양한 프로그램을 담고 있어, 여느 학교처럼 운동장도 없고 산책로도 없지만, 쉬는 시간에 친구들과 이야기 할 수 있고, 놀 수 있는 건강한 환경을 만들고자 하였다.

The Nowon Youth Counseling Welfare Center is situated in a densely populated urban area dominated by apartment complexes. Despite the small land size and the absence of facilities like school playgrounds or walking paths, the center aims to create a healthy environment where students can talk and play with friends during breaks, accommodating a variety of programs within its limited space.
