약 2개 층 정도의 높낮이 차이가 있는 지형적인 특징과 감사원으로의 출퇴근길에 위치한 위상적 특징을 동시에 고려하는 공간과 동선을 계획하여야 했다. 또한, 고즈넉한 삼청동 특유의 한옥마을 분위기에서 도드라져 보이기보다는 마을경관에 어울릴 수 있는 “집”으로서의 어린이집을 계획하려 하였다.

 In designing the daycare center, it was necessary to consider both the topographical feature of approximately two stories’ height difference and the positional characteristic of being located on the commute route to the Board of Audit and Inspection. Additionally, the plan aimed to create a “home” for the daycare that would blend into the tranquil atmosphere of the traditional Hanok village in Samcheong-dong, rather than standing out. 

대지의 형태와 높낮이는 어린이집이라는 프로그램에 많은 과제를 내어주었다. 먼저, 동선 및 공간을 지형에 순응하여 배치하였고, 도로와 마주하는 지상 2층과 지하 1층은 출입구를 두었다. 지하 1층과 지상 1층은 어린이집 내부공간과 유기적으로 연계될 수 있도록 마당 공간을 마련했다. 각기 다른 3개 층의 공간은 건물 내부에서도, 외부에서도 연속되는 공간으로 계획하여 분절된 외부의 형태와 다르게 하나의 공간으로 인식되도록 계획하였다.

 The shape and elevation of the site presented many challenges for the daycare program. Initially, the circulation and spaces were arranged in accordance with the terrain, and entrances were placed on the second floor facing the road and on the basement level. The basement and ground floors were designed to be organically connected to the interior spaces of the daycare, with a courtyard space provided. The spaces on the three different levels were planned to be perceived as a continuous space, both inside and outside the building, unlike the segmented external form. 

 건축주가 국가기관이고 연관된 10개의 필지 대부분이 국유지이기에 정리되지 않은 채로 오랜 기간 유지되어 불분명한 토지경계를 정리하는 과정이 필요했다. 필지를 정리한 후에 건축한계선, 일조권 확보를 위한 영역을 제외하고 남은 대지는 길이 약 55m, 너비 약 12m의 구겨놓은 종잇조각 같았다. 또한, 8m의 높이차는 어린이들의 활동과 안전한 피난이 우선인 어린이집에서 마치 100m 장벽과 같은 느낌이었다. 이렇게 대지가 준 조건들이 모여 프로젝트 미션이 완성되었다.

 The client being a national institution and most of the related ten plots being state-owned land, it was necessary to clarify the long-maintained but unclear land boundaries. After organizing the plots, excluding the areas for building limits and securing sunlight rights, the remaining site was about 55 meters in length and 12 meters in width, resembling a crumpled strip of paper. Moreover, an 8-meter height difference felt like a 100-meter barrier in the daycare center, where children’s activities and safe evacuation are priorities. Thus, the conditions provided by the site came together to complete the project mission.

 구겨놓은 종잇조각 같은 대지의 형상을 따라가는 하나의 매스는 불규칙적인 사선, 곡선 등으로 보육실로 그 기능을 오롯이 수행하기 어려웠다. 그래서 우리는 보육실 인원에맞는 크기의 정방형의 매스를 향과 동선에 맞게 배치하였고, 보육실 사이 공간을 유희실, 다목적실, 독서계단, 그리고 선큰을 배치하여 작은 어린이집들이 모여서 함께 할 수 있고, 자연이 함께하는 놀이공간으로 계획하였다.
